Perhatian kepada semua mahasiswa/wi, sila ambil perhatian terhadap beberapa pengumuman berikut.

1. Pada 1 Januari 2011 (Sabtu) ini, kuliah akan berjalan seperti biasa. Tiada cuti tahun baru untuk semua mahasiswa/wi.

2. Semua mahasiswa/wi tahun 3 boleh mula mendapatkan buku MCQ Microbiology daripada Maktabah Ataa' di Syarik Jihan. 70% daripada soalan peperiksaan akan datang adalah daripada buku ini. Buku adalah TIDAK percuma.

3. Kelas revision Pharmacology pada esok hari akan berjalan seperti biasa pada pukul 8.00-9.00 pagi. Sekiranya Dr Manal tidak dapat hadir atas masalah kesihatan beliau, Dr Hisham akan masuk untuk mengajar topik Angina. Dr Manal akan menyambung topik Hypertension untuk kelas seterusnya.

5. Kelas revision Pharmacology bagi tajuk CVS adalah pada setiap hari Selasa, pada jam 8.00 pagi dan bertempat di dewan mini di Department Pharmacology. (diajar oleh doktor GIT ketika kuliah).

Berkenaan Akreditasi

Assalamualaikum,
atas permintaan sesetengah pihak, jadi saya akan beritahu sedikit sebanyak mengenai Accreditation yang bakal berlangsung pada minggu depan.

-Mansoura University telah membuat persiapan untuk Akreditasi sejak 5 tahun lalu, di mana perubahan dibuat sedikit demi sedikit (untuk makluman lebih lanjut boleh rujuk wakil batch senior).
-Akreditasi untuk tahun ini ialah di peringkat nasional (dalam negara)
-Setakat ini, hanya 1 Universiti di Mesir yang telah berjaya mendapat akreditasi, banyak universiti lain yang juga turut serta untuk mendapat pengiktirafan ini, tetapi masih gagal.

Jika sesebuah Universiti berjaya mendapat akreditasi, maka:

-sejumlah besar bajet akan disalurkan ke Universiti tersebut. Maka keadaan Universiti akan betambah baik
-pihak Universiti boleh membuat apa jua permintaan kepada pihak Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Mesir.
-pihak Akreditasi akan memantau dari tahun ke tahun (jadi kelebihannya, kita tak akan diabaikan)
-graduan Universiti akan mendapat tempat lebih awal di Malaysia berbanding graduan-graduan dari Universiti tanpa Akreditasi.
-pihak Universiti akan mampu menaja graduan-graduan cemerlang untuk melanjutkan pengajian ke peringkat lebih tinggi.
-Universiti tersebut layak untuk dinilai untuk peringkat antarabangsa.

Jadi saya pohon kerjasama dari semua ahli batch ini untuk menjayakan proses penilaian dari pihak National Quality Assurance and Accreditation Committee (NQAAC), dan semoga tiada lagi pihak yang tersalah faham tentang apa yang akan berlaku minggu depan.

“Bersempena dengan kedatangan hari sembilan (tasu’a) dan sepuluh (‘asyura) Muharram ini saya mengingatkan para pengunjung sekelian tentang kita semua disunatkan berpuasa pada hari-hari berkenaan. Sekurang-kurangnya berpuasalah pada sepuluh Muharram. Ini seperti yang ditunjukkan dalam hadis-hadis berikut;

Sementara perhentian iaitu kematian, tidak pula kita tahu waktunya yang tepat. Namun yang pasti apabila ia sampai, tidak dilewatkan walaupun sesaat jua. Kita hamba Tuhan di persada masa.

عن ابن عباس رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنهُ أن رَسُول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّم صام يوم عاشوراء وأمر بصيامه. مُتَّفّقٌ عَلَيهِ

Daripada Ibn Abbas r.a.:“Bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w. berpuasa pada hari ‘asyura dan memerintahkan agar berpuasa padanya”. (Riwayat al-Bukhari dan Muslim dalam sahih mereka).

عن أبي قتادة رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنهُ أن رَسُول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّم سئل عن صيام يوم عاشوراء فقال: ((يكفر السنة الماضية)) رَوَاهُ مُسلِمٌ.

Daripada Abu Qatadah r.a. : bahawa Rasulullah s.a.w ditanya tentang puasa hari ‘asyura. Baginda menjawab, “(Puasa tersebut) Menghapuskan dosa satu tahun yang lalu”. (Riwayat Muslim)

وعن ابن عباس رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنهُما قال، قال رَسُول اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيهِ وَسَلَّم: ((لئن بقيت إلى قابل لأصومن التاسع)) رَوَاهُ مُسلِمٌ.

Daripada Ibn Abbas r.a. beliau berkata: “Rasulullah s.a.w bersabda, “Sekiranya aku masih hidup sampai tahun depan, maka aku akan berpuasa pada (hari) kesembilan” (Riwayat. Muslim).

Assalamualaikum.
Berikut adalah beberapa perkara yang perlu diambil perhatian oleh mahasiswa/wi sekalian.

1. Perhatian kepada semua mahasiswa/wi yang telah mendaftarkan diri untuk Program Basic Life Saving (BLS), sila jelaskan bayaran sebanyak LE 120 kepada bendahari batch (Robex/Solah) selewat-lewatnya pada 21/12/2010. Bagi yang masih berminat atau ingin membatalkan penyertaan, sila maklumkan kepada bendahari secepat mungkin sebelum tarikh tutup pembayaran.

Note: Program ini mungkin akan dijalankan pada hari Jumaat secara berperingkat, hanya 25 orang sahaja untuk satu sesi. Pembahagian kumpulan akan dimaklumkan kemudian. Lokasi program adalah di dalam universiti.

2. Unit perumahan 10/11 sedang menganjurkan pertandingan menamakan Dewan PCM. Bagi yang berminat untuk menyertainya, bolehlah dapatkan borang penyertaan daripada ketua/timbalan ketua batch anda. Borang penyertaan adalah terhad. Sila hantar borang anda sebelum tarikh tutup penyertaan (15/12/2010). Hadiah menarik pastinya menanti anda!

3. Pendaftaran bagi trip ke Luxor, Aswan dan Hurghada masih dibuka. Bayaran adalah sebanyak LE 900 yang merangkumi pakej yang sama seperti tahun lepas. Tarikh yang ditetapkan adalah pada 15-22 Februari 2011. Jika berminat, sila hubungi ketua/timbalan ketua batch anda sebelum 10 Januari 2011.

4. Kelas tuisyen bagi subjek Microbiology telah ditangguhkan selama 2 minggu atas sebab-sebab keselamatan dan untuk memberi tempoh kepada mahasiswa/wi berfikir sama ada ingin meneruskan atau pun tidak. Bagi yang terlibat, sila beri maklum balas kepada Nor Malisa. Sebarang keputusan akan dimaklumkan kemudian.

5. Cuti musim sejuk akan bermula pada 28 Januari 2011 dan akan berlangsung selama 2 minggu.

6. Peringatan kepada ahli kumpulan 12 (no. 1-50), Virtual Lab Class anda adalah pada hari esok (14/12/2010) pada jam 2-3 petang. Kuliah Parasitology akan dianjakkan ke jam 1 petang di dewan kuliah biasa.

CONCERN OVER MEDICAL SCHOOLS

PETALING JAYA: The Higher Education Ministry will keep a close eye on foreign medical schools after a task force discovered that a sizeable number of Malaysian students at Mansoura University, Egypt, did not possess non-objection certificates (NOCs).

The NOC is a certificate issued by the ministry before Malaysian students can study medicine abroad.

Students must also have the NOC before they can apply for Govern¬ment loans or scholarships.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin told The Star that his ministry was concerned about the issue and more checks would be done, particularly at universities with Government-sponsored students.

He added that this would ensure that Malaysian medical students abroad received not only quality education, but mixed with the right group of students as well.

“We (the ministry) will hold discussions with the university authorities and our Egyptian counterparts before deciding on how best to manage this,” he said.

The task force was sent to Mansoura to ascertain whether the university’s medical faculty met international standards.

The ministry received its findings yesterday and it could be the precursor of a coordinated operation to uphold quality.

There were currently 926 Malaysian students at Mansoura, with 493 pursuing the varsity’s homegrown medicine course and the rest following a twinning programme involving the University of Man¬chester.

Mohamed Khaled confirmed that there were Government-sponsored students at Mansoura but said that the ministry’s recognition of the varsity would not be reviewed.

“Although this is a serious case, the university is reputable and it adheres to quality standards,” he said.

Responding to a recent report in The Star, Mohamed Khaled said that close cooperation with the Health Ministry was necessary to ensure the quality of medical students graduating from foreign institutions.

He added that he supported the Health Ministry’s suggestion to assess foreign graduates before they started their housemanship as weaknesses could be detected early.

Its an international level achievement. The most important thing is, your degree certificate of Medicine would be from AN ACCREDITATED UNIVERSITY.. InsyaAllah, Amin!

* The Parasitology Lecture on 30.11.2010 has been changed from 2pm to 1pm and will be held at the usual lecture hall. (to give space for Virtual Lab Class of Gp.11)

* Students who are going to be attending the Virtual Lab class are advised to do some revision on previous topics learned for better understanding while operating the simulation of drugs system during the lab hour.

* Reminder : There will be a continuous assestment test of Pathology on "Infection" for Gp.11 during the Practical Slides Class on Wednesday (01.12.2010). Please be prepared!

* The next Microb's Tuition Class will be on Monday (29.11.2010) at 5.30pm (no more trial kay..). Those who had confirmed to take the class can start to pay the fee for this semester which is 350L.E to Miss Lisa starting on this Monday.

* The dateline for submission of Weekly Questions Answer (W1) is on this Tuesday (30.11.2010). You can pass up your answers to any subject representatives.

Pharma's Virtual Lab

The Pharmacology department has added a new programme to enhance and improve our skills in Practicing Pharmacology in Medicine. The VIRTUAL LAB CLASS will be started by this week. We will be provided by a computer for each student and with guide of several tutors, we will be able to visualize the action of certain drugs to certain organ using special computer software.

Each student are compulsory to attend this class as it is included as one of Practical Session and attendance will be taken. This is the only Virtual Lab class we are going to have for this year. So please grab this gold chance!

In case if you guys do not know the place whereabout, the Virtual Lab is located at the ground floor of old Pharma Building (our lecture hall building), beside the skill lab. (you can ask our 4th and 5th years seniors to be sure)

Below are the schedule for the classes :

First week : Group 11----- Number 1-50-----30.11.2010 (2-3pm)

Second week : (No Malaysian Students Group Class, postpone due to Awal Muharram's Holiday)

Third week : Group 12 ----- Number 1-50 ----- 14.12.2010 (2-3pm)

Fourth week : Group 11 ----- Number 51-66 ----- 20.12.2010 (1-3pm)

Fourth week : Group 12 ----- Number 51-69 ----- 30.12.2010 (1-3pm)

Reminder:
Attention to practical members of Group 11 holding number 1-50, your Pharmacology Virtual Lab Class is on this COMING TUESDAY. Please take note and dont play truant yeah!

NOTE : This Lab Class might clash with our lecture hour. We will TRY to adjust the lecture class to the other free time if possible which will be informed later. But if in case we could'nt, please put the Virtual Lab class at the first place.

Microb's Presentation > New System

In conjunction of the first presentation day for group 11 this morning, here are some reminders and advices to all dear friends:

- Please do not take it easy of this task as the Microb's Department Coordinators are very strict and serious this year. Unlike our previous year's presentation.

- Any students who does not attend the meeting with your supervisor, your group mark for cooperation will be deducted. While those who absent during the presentation day will have no second chance. So, please do not skip practical classes of Microb as it might be either 2 or 3 group presentation for each session.

- The duration of presentation is maximum 15min with 7-10 slides only per group.

- Presentation will be held at the first hour of the practical session. Do not come late!

- Please bring along your green logbook in case if the examiner wants to record your mark in the book.

- Do not forget to wear you labcoat.

- It is advisable to give chance for all group members to speak and present according to subelements of the topic.

- Please be well-prepared with your presentation several weeks before the expected date in case if the examiner pick/skip the presenter group randomly.

- Make sure that you recheck your final work before the presentation day with your supervisor.

NOTE : This guidelines is a sharing according to the experience of the presentation of group 11. All students of both groups are advisable to take note of this guidelines.

GOOD NEWS PEOPLE!!

In order to help us in learning process throughout this year, a new program has been planned involving all the third year students.

PAST YEARS QUESTIONS ACTIVITY.

- Past years questions will be divided according to certain topics weekly.

- Every week, there will be questions from each subject posted in the MEDCLICK blog, related to topics that we have learned throughout the week.

- Each of us is advised to complete this task and submit it to our subject leaders. By the end of every week (Thursday), our answers will be marked by doctors from each department.

- Later, the right answers according to the marking scheme will be posted in the blog.

- At the end of the year, we can compile these answers as a whole for easy references and revision for the upcoming final exams.

- We are really hoping that we can cooperate to do it together and there will be no more last minute preparations.
